Profile
Rich focuses his practice in the areas of business transactions, real estate transactions, commercial lending and estate planning. He has counseled a variety of clients, including hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, lending institutions, low-income housing corporations, contractors and individuals with respect to the full range of corporate, regulatory, contract, construction and real estate matters. Rich also has substantial experience in the tax-exempt financing of health care facilities, mortgage and asset-based financing for a variety of for-profit and not-for-profit entities, and acquisition structuring and financing. He is knowledgeable in the drafting of wills, powers of attorney, and health care proxies, and he has advised clients in matters relating to the probate and administration of estates.
Rich has lectured to various groups, including the New York State Bar Association and Albany County Bar Association, on the subjects of real estate and estate planning. He has also addressed the Northern New York Chapter of the Health Care Financial Management Association on issues faced by not-for-profit health care institutions in obtaining federal income tax exemptions and real property tax exemptions.
Rich is an adjunct faculty member of the Albany Law School of Union University, where he teaches a Real Estate Transaction course to upper-level law students. He also serves on the Committee on Not-for-Profit Entities and Concerns of the Real Property Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.
