Mr. Iseman has represented both individual and institutional
health care providers. He has provided a full range of legal
services for multi-provider health care systems, hospitals,
health maintenance organizations and other health care providers,
including representation in such areas as managed care,
integrated health care delivery systems, medical staff relationships,
peer review, corporate and medical staff bylaws, risk management,
provider reimbursement, vendor contracts, certificate of
need applications, fraud and abuse, joint ventures, tax
issues and real estate.
Throughout the State of New York and on a regional basis,
Mr. Iseman has also provided legal services to several religiously
sponsored, multi-hospital health care systems. Mr. Iseman’s
experience in representing religiously sponsored health
care systems has included substantial involvement concerning
the inter-relationship between the civil law of New York
and other states and the Canon Law of the Roman Catholic
Church.
Mr. Iseman has also been engaged in a broad range of civil
litigation matters on behalf of various clients, including
many nationally known corporations. The litigated disputes
involved such areas of the law as securities claims, wrongful
discharge, real estate transactions, environmental contamination,
insurance, breach of contract and personal injury. He has
also frequently represented clients before state and federal
administrative agencies concerning licensing, certificate
of need and other regulatory matters.
Mr. Iseman is admitted to practice before the courts of
New York and the United States District Courts for the Eastern
and Northern Districts of New York. He is a member of the
New York State and Albany County Bar Associations, the New
York State Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of
Trial Lawyers of America, and the American Health Lawyers
Association. Mr. Iseman’s participation in the New
York State Bar Association has included several leadership
roles and special assignments. Mr. Iseman served as counsel
to a special State Bar Association Action Unit studying
reform of the state’s court system and the manner
of selection of judges. He has also chaired the State Bar’s
Committee on Constitution and Bylaws and the Legislative
Policy Committee and was elected as a fellow of the New
York Bar Foundation.
Mr. Iseman has conducted special seminars and presentations
for various clients and professional associations, such
as the New York State Bar Association, Hospital Education
and Research Fund of the Healthcare Association of New York
State, and the Hospital Trustees of the State of New York.
Among the topics addressed have been civil litigation tactics
and techniques, patient confidentiality, incident and misconduct
reporting, the legal implications of medical staff peer
review, and the fiduciary duty of board members.
Mr. Iseman is listed in the national law referral guide,
The Best Lawyers in America, and carries the highest rating
(AV) from the Martindale-Hubbell lawyer registry. Both publications
list attorneys based solely upon peer evaluations.
A native of Albany, Mr. Iseman graduated from the Milne
School in Albany and received a Bachelor of Arts degree
(magna cum laude) from the University at Albany.
He received his law degree (cum laude) from Albany
Law School of Union University. While at Albany Law School,
Mr. Iseman was elected to the Justinian Society for academic
excellence and was an editor of the Law Review. Before entering
private practice, Mr. Iseman was employed by the Office
of Counsel to the Governor of the State of New York, where
he served for two years as an assistant counsel to Governors
Rockefeller and Wilson. |
