Litigation: Defense of Licensed Professionals

ICRH attorneys represent licensed professionals in administrative and judicial proceedings. Our clients include architects, attorneys, insurance adjusters, engineers, physicians, nurses, and other licensed professionals.

Health Care Professionals

For many years our attorneys have successfully represented numerous physicians against charges brought by the NYS Department of Health's Office of Professional Medical Conduct, and other health care professionals charged by the NYS Education Department's Office of Professional Discipline.

These engagements present questions of professional conduct, licensing and discipline, credentialing, malpractice liability, National Practitioner Data Bank reporting, Medicare and Medicaid exclusion, and disputes regarding corporate, contractual, and employment relationships.

The stakes are extremely high in this area of our practice because our client's very livelihood can be placed in jeopardy. Addressing the matter quickly and effectively sometimes allows us to close investigations before charges are filed and often helps avoid a lengthy investigation and prosecution which can have damaging consequences for our client's reputation and peace of mind.

We have substantial experience in working with the Committee on Physician Health and other organizations that assist professionals who suffer from some form of impairment.

We have successfully defended professionals against a wide variety of misconduct charges, including claims of:

  • incompetence
  • fraudulent practice
  • sexual misconduct
  • substance abuse
  • billing irregularities
  • criminal convictions unrelated to the practice of medicine
  • professional misconduct in other jurisdictions
