Lead Practice Area: Litigation
Summary: Our clients, the former chief executive officer and chief financial officer of a New York company, were sued personally by an international investment holding company. Critical witnesses were located throughout the world, and we successfully employed the procedures of the Hague Convention to obtain evidence needed to defend the case. The case required extensive forensic accounting work to reconstruct and analyze significant portions of the company's financial systems and reports, including various international and domestic accounting systems and financial data. Through the use of a subpoena that we crafted, we obtained access to native format accounting systems and electronic data through a virtual private network. We utilized a document review platform to search through millions of pages of electronic documents and emails for evidence. To process the vast quantities of electronic data in a cost-effective manner, we worked closely with a litigation support vendor to manage the manner in which electronic data was requested, produced, and processed.
